Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has issued a sharp response to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s recent claims of a political plot to impeach him, accusing the DP of masterminding efforts to undermine President William Ruto.
In a statement on Thursday, Sudi alleged that Gachagua is behind a failed plan to oust Ruto from power. "My boss, it's no longer a secret that you're the mastermind behind the dead-on-arrival plan to oust our President," Sudi declared.
Sudi went on to accuse Gachagua of inciting the street protests that led to deaths and arrests earlier this year.
"Young people were killed in the streets, and those jailed are a result of the money you poured to sponsor demos, yet now you claim you're fighting for them! Save for the respect we have for your office, you belong to jail," Sudi said.
He also claimed that Gachagua has been manipulating young political leaders like MPs James Gakuya, Alfred Keter, and Benjamin Gathiru to serve his agenda while attempting to ruin the careers of established leaders such as Kimani Ichung’wah, Ndindi Nyoro, and Cecily Mbarire.
This came in response to Gachagua’s statement, where the Deputy President alleged that a scheme is underway to charge some of his allies, including Embakasi North MP James Gakuya and Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru, over their alleged involvement in the June protests.

Gachagua claimed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was being used as part of a grand plan to build grounds for his impeachment.
"This evil scheme is to associate them with violent demonstrations that took place in late June, in a futile attempt to soil my name and hopefully create grounds for the mooted impeachment proceedings against me," the DP stated.
He added that the criminal justice system should not be weaponized for political purposes, expressing disappointment that such tactics are still in use despite assurances made during and after the elections.
Gachagua defended his record, stating that Kenyans are fully aware of the country’s real issues and that he is not among them.
"Kenyans are intelligent people. They know what factors made Kenyans take to the streets… They surely know Rigathi is not among them," he said.
Reports suggest that a motion to impeach the Deputy President could soon be tabled in Parliament.
