The Nairobi County Government has announced revised bus routes for Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) accessing the Central Business District (CBD).
According to a gazette notice dated December 20, the County Executive Member (CECM) for Mobility and Works, Ibrahim Nyangoya Auma, stated that the new routes replace those gazetted in 2017.
“Pursuant to section 4 (1) of the Nairobi City County Transport Act, 2020, it is notified for the general information of the public that the County Executive Member for Mobility and Works degazettes Gazette Notice No. 4479 of 2017 and gazettes the revised Core Bus Route Network for Public Transport Vehicles operating to, from and within the Nairobi City County,” the notice read.
The changes, according to the gazette, take effect immediately.
Some of the new routes include a connection from Kikuyu Town to Eastleigh Section 3, passing through various areas including Waithaka, Kawangware, Ngong Road, Junction Mall, and several landmarks in the CBD such as Kenyatta Avenue, GPO, and Ambassadeur.

A return journey will follow a different route through Race Course, St. Peters Clavers Church, and Kencom.
Additionally, two routes from Dandora to Kibera/Olympic have been re-gazetted, with return journeys terminating at GPO, Ambassadeur, and OTC.
Other new routes include connections from Kiambu to Westlands, Kitengela and Athi River to Westlands, and Kitengela to Ruiru and Thika.
Other significant routes now include Umoja to Kibera via the Industrial Area, Kileleshwa to Komarock Estate, and Riruta Satellite to Kahawa West.
The county has also gazetted additional routes such as Komarock to Highridge, Dandora to Ngumo and South C, and Kariobangi to Upperhill.
The updated network comprises 89 routes in total, with notable additions including Kitengela to Ruiru and Thika, Huruma to South B, Dagoretti to Bomas, and two Utawala to Kangemi routes.
