Chepalungu MP Victor Kipngetich has denied reports that he was slapped by Farouk Kibet, a close aide to President William Ruto, during an event in Bomet.
In a statement posted on his social media on Sunday, December 29, Kipngetich called the reports "false and fabricated".
"My attention has been drawn to a fake, malicious and entirely fabricated letter making rounds on social media, falsely alleging that there was a scuffle reported at Koiwa during President Ruto's function," the statement read in part.
He further disassociated himself from a circulating press statement allegedly addressing the claims, asserting that the document was a forgery.
The MP condemned what he termed as “fake news” aimed at associating his office with propaganda.
He labeled the allegations defamatory and an attack on principles of justice and fairness.

"These allegations are not only false but also a calculated effort by my competitors to undermine and distract me from my public service. I strongly condemn the use of fake news to manipulate public perception and instigate discord," the MP added.
At the same time, President William Ruto encountered a tense moment on the same day in Bomet, where residents heckled Governor Hillary Barchok during a public event.
Ruto had attended a church service at AIC Konoin before addressing a gathering in Koiwa alongside dignitaries, including Governor Barchok.
While the crowd responded enthusiastically to the President’s speech, their mood shifted dramatically when he invited Barchok to address them.
Video footage seen by Daily Times KE showed the crowd raising their hands in protest against Barchok, leaving Ruto visibly at a loss on how to defuse the situation.
President Ruto appeared momentarily at a loss, visibly grappling with how to manage the situation.
