Police in Garissa have arrested three suspects linked to a series of violent robberies in the Burburis area of Garissa Sub-County.
In an operation spurred by intelligence, officers from
General Duties, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the
Administration Police Service raided their hideout and arrested the suspects.
The police said in a statement on Saturday, September 21 that the suspects were identified as Ali Isaac Muhumed alias "Jografia", 38 and Muhumed Bare Hussein, 30 while Habiba Yusuf is aged 70 years.
Habiba is accused of offering shelter to the two men after
their criminal activities.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation
(DCI), several items were recovered during the raid.
“Upon raiding their hideout, law enforcement officers unearthed a treasure trove of incriminating evidence, including an AK47 rifle with serial number A082674 and 6 rounds of ammunition, 12 mobile phones, and two knives, among other damning items,” the DCI noted.
They were booked in police custody at Garissa Police Station
and are currently being held for further questioning.
The suspects are set to appear before the court on Monday
when charges relating to violent robberies in Burburis will be pressed against
them.
Police say they will continue with the crackdown on criminal activities within
Garissa aimed at restoring security and peace in the area.
