Morara Kebaso, a prominent lawyer turned activist, was on Sunday evening involved in a road accident.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Morara confirmed the accident, describing it as a side collision.
"I have been involved in a road accident—side collision—in Kivwe, Embu County," he shared in a brief statement.
He was returning from a government project relaunch tour in Embu County.
The incident occurred between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Kivwe, Embu County, as his convoy made its way back.
According to the activist, the collision was caused by a drunk driver who lost control of his vehicle and crashed into one of the cars in the convoy.
He disclosed that all the tires of the Prado he was traveling in burst upon impact, and the airbags deployed, which prevented any serious injuries.
Morara had earlier embarked on a civic tour to Tharaka Nithi County, inspecting several stalled projects.
Among the projects he visited was the Chogoria-Weru-Marima Road, which had been allocated Ksh1 billion in 2019 to a company that, according to reports, doesn’t exist.
He also inspected the Kieni-Kiandege-Mworoga Road, which had been allocated Ksh700 million. Despite being launched, little progress has been made at the site.
During his tour, Morara also attended a church service at Chuka University, where he urged students to stand up and defend their nation.
He emphasized the importance of fighting against the defilement of places of worship and encouraged the congregation not to lose hope in the possibility of bringing change to the country.
In an interesting turn of events, residents of Embu surprised the activist with cash gifts in support of his civic education campaigns.
This came despite Morara's earlier announcement that he would refund anyone who felt they had been conned by his initiatives.
He explained that he did not want to tarnish his reputation or be seen as a beggar, as he had a family and a company to protect.
Morara has vowed to continue inspecting stalled government projects, despite the challenges he faces, including the recent accident.
His dedication to these civic campaigns has garnered him support from across the country, as he continues to push for transparency and accountability in government operations.
