Activist and public figure Kebaso Morara was on Friday attacked by a section of attendees during a public participation forum on the impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at Bomas of Kenya.

According to video footage seen by Daily Times KE, things took a different turn the moment Morara arrived.

What was supposed to be a community input meeting into the impeachment proceedings quickly degenerated into chaos as the mood began to spiral out of hand.

The objection, characterized by group members resulted in the chase of Morara, forcing him to flee for his safety.

The security personnel present were forced to swing into action and prevent the situation from deteriorating into chaos.

The disruption saw the public participation session adjourn temporarily.

Morara Kebaso took to X after the incident and confirmed that he was injured during the altercation.

"I was barred from entering Bomas at the gate. When i finally got in, I was denied the mic at BOMAS floor. Chaos erupted. I am hurt. Headed to hospital. I live to speak another day," the activist said.

Morara has been a voice for transparency and accountability in government.

He had initially vowed to reject the impeachment motion against the deputy president stating that both Gachagua and the president should leave the office.
