SHA Launches Enhanced Linda Mama Package at No Cost for Mothers, How to Register

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has launched the Linda Mama Package initiative, a comprehensive maternal health care with no cost to expecting mothers in Kenya.

This is meant to ensure that mothers receive full care during pregnancy and at childbirth hence contributing to the health and well-being of mothers and newborn babies.

Key features of the Enhanced Linda Mama Package comprise free prenatal care, all the required screenings and tests throughout the pregnancy, as well as coverage of normal childbirth and C-section births.

In addition, it allows follow-up visits for mothers after delivery, and immediate newborn care to include vaccinations, while making special provisions for Rh-negative mothers.

This follows the shift of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to SHA effective October 1, 2024.

The government has reiterated that there should be no interruption of health services during this transition period and encouraged that maternity services at both KEPH levels 2 and 3 be continued.

As such, the healthcare providers have been advised to ensure that such services remain accessible to all mothers.

Interested mothers can enroll in the Enhanced Linda Mama Package by dialing *147#.

As the rollout of the SHA system continues, the government works on ensuring access to all citizens to all necessary health services.
