Police officers from Kilimani police station fatally shot two robbers on the morning of Sunday, November 3, during a confrontation with a gang of three.
In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident occurred along Tigoni Road near Naivas Supermarket, where the officers, on patrol, encountered the gang in the act, leading to a shootout.
One suspect escaped with gunshot wounds, prompting a manhunt by authorities.
"The officers who were on patrol duties along Tigoni road near Naivas Supermarket are reported to have bumped into the gang of three as they were right in the act leading to a shoot out that left two gang members permanently immobilized as one of their members escaped with gunshot wounds," the DCI said.
The DCI noted that a Mini Revolver, a panga, mobile phones, and a motorcycle bearing registration number KMGB 965W, were recovered following the incident.
Two members of the public, who had lost their valuables at different earlier occasions, identified their belongings among the recovered items.
Detectives have since processed the crime scene and investigations are ongoing.
Police in Kilimani sub-county have increased patrols, with a call for members of the public to cooperate with the police in ensuring security in the community.
