Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two women in connection with the death of a four-year-old boy, who police say was fatally assaulted after soiling himself.
According to the DCI, the primary suspect, identified as Melvin Owuor, is the boy's mother.
She is alleged to have taken the child's body to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary on December 9, 2024, in the company of her friend.
After reporting the death to the police, as instructed by mortuary officials, the two women failed to return to claim the body.
DCI established that the two suspects switched off their phones when they exited the mortuary, prompting alarm that caused the mortician to report the issue to Mowlem Police Station.

Despite initial reports by the mother that the boy had died in his sleep, detectives made some findings contradicting this claim.
"Whereas the suspect initially claimed that the child died while asleep, it was found that the minor had succumbed to injuries inflicted by his mother after an alleged incident, where the boy had reportedly soiled himself while answering the call of nature," the DCI said.
Further inquiries confirmed that the main suspect is the biological mother of the deceased child.
The two women have since been detained to assist with ongoing investigations.
