Former Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka has declined his appointment as Chairman of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre (KAGRC).
He had been appointed to the position by President William Ruto through a Kenya
Gazette notice dated October 3, 2024.
In a statement on Sunday, October 6, the former MP thanked the head of state
for the opportunity to serve the nation in the capacity but pointed to concerns
that could hinder the government from achieving its agenda.
"However, after soul-searching, extensive consultations and in
consideration of the current political climate that threatens the realization
of the government's economic transformation agenda, I have made the difficult
decision to respectfully decline this appointment," he said.
Munyaka extended best wishes to the president and his administration for their continued leadership of the country.
"Thank you once again for thinking about me for this position. I wish you and your administration the best as you lead our country," Munyaka said.
The Head of State had appointed seven personnel, all of whom were to serve for a period of three years according to the gazette notice.
In March 2023, Munyaka had been nominated to the position of CAS in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing & Urban Development but was, however, ruled unconstitutional by the court.
