Police in Kitale are looking for a suspect accused of stabbing to death a final-year student at KMTC, Kitale.
Preliminary reports indicate the incident happened on the morning of Sunday, December 1 in the Kibomet area on the outskirts of Kitale.
The victim, 25-year-old Benedict Kiptoo, was set to graduate on Thursday, December 5, and was stabbed in the neck during an alleged argument.
Police identified the suspect as Mercy Masika, alias Nancy Faiza.
Confirming the case, Trans Nzoia Deputy Police Commander Selasio Murethi assured the public that investigations are going on.
"We are actively searching for the suspect, and we are confident of bringing her to justice," Murethi said.
Dr. Evans Letting, who provided medical assistance to the injured student, said Kiptoo died from excessive bleeding.
"We tried all we could to stabilize him, but his condition deteriorated rapidly," Dr. Letting said.

The family of the deceased expressed their grief over the incident.
Kiptoo's mother, Gladys Kipkorir, is now urging authorities to expedite the search for the suspect.
"We need justice for my son. The authorities must act swiftly," she said.
Similar sentiments were echoed by his uncle, Japheth Kipkorir, who added that something must be done to ensure accountability in the matter.
Consequently, police visited the crime scene and have since recovered a knife that was reportedly used in the attack.
The incident has drawn condemnation from local leaders and professionals.
Trans Nzoia County Health Executive Sam Ojwang urged the community to take a firm stance against violence.
Psychologist Vincent Agolla pressed on the need for people to resolve conflicts amicably, calling on the residents to seek help whenever differences arise.
