Detectives from the DCI Kibra have apprehended Brian Otieno Maurice, the prime suspect in the murder of Kirinyaga University student Sospeter Osunga, famously known as "Akoko the Billionaire."
In a statement on Monday, December 9, the DCI said that the incident occurred on November 18, 2024, in Ayani, Nairobi County.
Investigations have revealed that on the fateful day, Osunga was attacked by a gang and sustained fatal wounds on his back caused by a sharp object.
"Osunga was fatally attacked by a gang of hoodlums in Ayani area where he sustained fatal wounds on his back, believed to have been caused by a sharp object," the DCI said.
According to witnesses, the scuffle broke out when Osunga and his friends, while moving from one nightclub to another, came across a commotion involving boda boda riders.

The altercation escalated until Osunga was stabbed to death and his friends were injured.
"Following thorough investigations, three individuals were initially arrested and provided crucial information which coupled with other intelligence leads resulted to the apprehension of the main suspect who is set to be arraigned in court today," DCI added.
He is set to be arraigned in court today as investigations continue to establish the full details of the incident.
Osunga was a prominent student entrepreneur who reportedly gained massive attention on campus and online for his ambitious ventures.
